Main Street Atmore announces competition winner, launches new program
Main Street Atmore began its Entrepreneur Program in 2023 with the end in mind. A local teen was recently awarded $3,500 by the organization as part of its program to help support and foster the town's entrepreneurial landscape. Even better is it was inspired by Main Street Monroeville's B.O.U.Y. program! We love it when that happens!
Downtown Enterprise's new walking tour, "full of stories waiting to be discovered"
Who says you can't learn a thing or two while having fun?! Main Street Enterprise and its volunteer design committee is proving you can with a new downtown walking tour. As Mariah Montgomery, the organization's executive director, puts it, the tour "offers a perfect opportunity for visitors to enjoy our charming downtown while learning about its rich history."
Leeds announces 9th Street expansion project
In an effort to blend “the old with the new, capturing the charm of historic Leeds,” a local business has begun a construction project at the site of a landmark building in downtown.
Economy Commissary Kitchen Planned for Woodlawn to Boost New Food Businesses, Community
We could all use a boost! Thankfully, Zebbie Carney, owner of Eugene’s Hot Chicken, is proactively taking steps to do just that for the Woodlawn community. The plan is to open a commissary kitchen in Woodlawn to help fill a need for the area's growing number of food trucks and culinary entrepreneurs.
New trail in Montgomery places emphasis on engaging senses for people with sight impairment
Kudos to all those involved in making this dream a reality in Montgomery, our newest Main Street Alabama community. Part of the Riverfront Greenway Trail, this new segment (which engages sight-impaired youth by incorporating bright flowers, ropes to aid walking and interactive musical instruments) will be known as the Montgomery Lions Club Children’s Sensory Trail.
