Have you heard the news?! Madison is the newest city selected as a designated Main Street Alabama community! Madison Mayor Paul Finely is excited to get started. "There's been so much done there, but there's so much potential," Finley said. "This adds value and a structured program to make that potential happen." And added value, a nationwide network of resources, and out-of-the-box perspectives is only a taste of what Main Street Alabama has to offer. Just ask the mayor in nearby Athens, who admits that even though the town had long been working towards revitalization, becoming a designated city put Athens on a different level. "I tell you when Main Street first came along, I said: Do what? But my goodness, what I was missing," Athens Mayor Marks said. "They've brought in several restaurants. They've got the entertainment district. It's well worth it. I can't imagine our city not having a Main Street." We look forward to working with you, Madison. Welcome to Main Street!
