Applicants should have experience and/or a two-year college degree in at least three or more of the following areas: historic preservation, planning, economic development, retailing, marketing, design, fund raising, volunteer management, nonprofit management, and/or small business development. Applicants must reside in DeKalb County, Ala., or be willing to relocate within a 60-day timeframe of accepting the position as executive director.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with highly developed communication skills and a track record showcasing successes in working with multiple stakeholder groups. He or she will be entrepreneurial, energetic, well organized, capable of functioning in an independent environment, and able to work well with local government and business owners. Must be able to motivate and work as a member of a team. Advanced verbal and written communication skills are essential. The annual salary range is $32,000 to $39,500 depending on experience, skills and education.
